Michigan Board of Internal Improvements.

This collection consists of minutes of the proceedings of the Board of Internal Improvement's meetings for the years 1837-1847. The Board kept an account of the progress of the various rail and canal projects with which it was associated. The proceedings contain written rules of order that the Board was expected to follow. There is also a financial accounting for the costs of the rail and canal projects. Salaries of commissioners and officers of the railroad are listed. There are also rates of tolls with a listing of goods transported. The collection is arranged chronologically.

The Michigan Board of Internal Improvements was created to facilitate the development of canals and railroads in the state of Michigan.
